Ash Wednesday Divine Service with the Imposition of Ashes — This Wednesday at 6:30 P.M.
“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Gathered in God’s House by His Holy Spirit this Ash Wednesday, we come before the Lord in deep humility to repent of our sins and turn anew in faith to Jesus Christ and receive his forgiveness and salvation. Ash Wednesday begins our forty-day Lenten discipline as God’s people during which we are renewed in our Baptism into Christ Jesus and prepared for the Easter Triduum and the Paschal Feast of Christ, his Passover through death into life for us.
As a remembrance of the curse of death and a sign of the repentant life, ashes from the burnt palms of Palm Sunday last year will be placed in the form of a cross on the forehead of each person who so desires.
IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE EVENING SERVICE and would like to receive the Imposition of the Ashes, please note that our Day School children will participate in a brief rite in the morning Ash Wednesday chapel service (8:10 a.m.). Feel free to join us. Additionally, you may make an appointment with Pastor Thoma for receiving the Imposition in private.
